Rare FMC LVTH6A1 brass 1/24 scale model USMC amphibious landing vehicletoystrainsandotheroldstuffllc
Created by FMC of San Jose, California in the 1960's (1964-67) for the USMC that was eventually made for use in Vietnam. This is a brass mock-up of the real deal in 1/24th scale, an assault amphibian vehicle w/ 105mm howitzer. FMC is otherwise known as the Food Machinery Corporation and has been around since 1928. They were awarded contracts starting in 1941 to design amphibious landing vehicles by the United States War Department. The model here is one of likely less than a handful that were made. It is highly detailed with opening hatches, compartments, movable gun and turret, removable engine hatch and opening front deployment door. This is exactly what the real one looked like but you can actually fit this baby on your desk or into a display cabinet. The piece measures 14 1/4" long 5 5/8" wide and 9 1/4" tall to the top of its tallest antenna. and weighs at least 10 lbs A fantastic piece of history and possibly the only known original mock-up from FMC. This does not have any paperwork or provenance other than the plate on the bottom.
